With pressing financial issues allayed, many widows are able to piece their lives together and continue. Following a social worker’s appraisal of each case, IHI offers monthly grants of up to $1,250 per family.
A home for battered and abused women offers a warm haven for women and their children, providing counseling, vocational training and placement, legal advice and daycare services.
A grant of $2,500 gives a previously battered, abused, or abandoned woman the tools to rebuild her life after leaving the shelter.
Dozens of teenage girls in various stages of distress are provided with social services, counseling, and therapy to help them cope.
